Itinerary

Day 1:Arrival Riga

Arrival to Riga. Transfer to the hotel. Walking tour of the Old Town of Riga who is designated UNESCO World Heritage site. In Old town you will see remarkable sites: St.Peter’s Church (800 year old), St.Jacobs Church – is one of the oldest churches in Riga constructed in Gothic and Romanesque styles, Dom Square and Dom Cathedral, home to one of the world’s most precious historic organs. After you will know about the oldest stone residential apartments in Riga, the Three Brothers, the Great and Small Guilds, and the fort wall of Riga with the Swedish Gate the last standing gate in the wall.  The guide will present you the story of the Cat House and show you Town Hall Square with the fabulous and stylish Blackheads House.

In the evening, dinner will be waiting for you in the traditional Latvian restaurant (for an additional fee, ordered in advance). Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 2:Riga - Ethnographic open air museum

Breakfast. After breakfast drive to Ethnographic open air museum founded in 1924y. It’s just 10km away rom Riga. The only place in Latvia where it is suitable to view the similarities and distinctions of how people used to live in the various historical regions of Latvia. There you can find 118 historical buildings from all four of Latvia’s provinces. Take a walk through traditional farmsteads and accommodation houses of craftsmen, farmers and fishermen, view everyday objects used during the time, see how people historically decorated their props, as well as how people made a living. The excellent place for a leisurely walk in the fresh air. Afternoon back to Riga (free time). Free time for enjoying by yourself. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 3:Mezotne

Breakfast. After breakfast drive to Zemgale lands. Short stop in Bauska Castle which was built by the Livonian order in the 15th century. It’s a beautiful place to take a picture. After arrive at Rundale where you will visit amazing baroque ensemble of Rundale Palace, which in Latvia is also called “Little Versailles”. It is situated on the Zemgale lowland. Near the castle is located a beautiful park. Rundale Palace is one of Latvia’s most famous architectural landmarks – a Baroque period ensemble complete with palace, barns and garden-park. This palace was designed by Italian architect F. B. Rastreli, who created the famous Hermitage palace in St. Petersburg.  Rundale Palace, keeping the original idea of the creator – the palace in the centre, represent the power of the king. At the moment, in the palace are big art collection. After that drive to Mezotne Palace which is one of the fundamentaly examples of classicism architecture in Latvia. Mezotne can be proud an English style landscape park used on natural beauty. The park has three parts – main yard, a summer park and a winter park. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 4:Ventspils

Breakfast. After breakfast, drive to Jelgava Palace, built in the 18th century which was once the seat of the Duke of Courland and Zemgale, now home to the Latvian University of Agriculture. Jelgava Palace is truly a exceptional pearl, designed by Russian architect Rastrelli, and one of the unique historical architectural monuments of Jelgava city. Another stop is in Kuldiga an archaic town which in the 17th century was the capital of the Duchy of Kurzeme. The historical centre of Kuldiga started developing as far back as the 13th century. At present, the old town of Kuldiga and the red-brick bridge across the river Venta are applicants for inclusion in the UNESCO List of World Cultural Heritage. The town is also known for the widest waterfall in Europe. In Kuldiga everyone can find plenty of Renaissance, Baroque and Gothic-style buildings. Free time. After arrive to Ventspils on the coast of the Baltic Sea. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 5:Ventspils - Jurmala

Breakfast. After breakfast tour of Ventspils which is one of the oldest but fastest growing cities in Latvia. The old town where are narrow streets, wonderful buildings and squares contrast with modern architecture. Ostas Iela Promenade – a walk down the promenade countenance a castle of the Livonian Order, a memorial to the Latvian writer Kr. Valdemars and other statues. Afterwards drive to Tukums is a small town situated at the threshold of Kurzeme, also known as the Gate to Kurzeme. The town centre and the fountain is the best place to organize dates, to meet both during the day or in the late evening. Tasty food, cozy cafes and pubs, hospitable, old houses with ornamented doors. After arrive in the Durbe Manor, which is a pearl of the Classicism architecture of Kurzeme. This is one of the earliest manor houses in Latvia, where the interior from late 19th century has been rebuilded to give the idea of the Baltic German culture. Late evening arrival in Jurmala, resort and summer capital. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 6:Jurmala - Sigulda

Breakfast. After breakfast walking tour of Jurmala which is the only official resort in Latvia (15km. from Riga). The resort of Jurmala is famous for its certain stocks, its soft climate, the sea, its useful air, and the therapeutic mud and mineral waters. There are plenty of actions in each of the 4 seasons and at any time of the year for every tourist to the city, such as art shows, local and international concerts, and various other events. There will be time to walk along the sea coast and central Jurmala street full of cafes and souvenir shops. Afterwards, drive to Sigulda located in Gauja National Park which is the largest and oldest of the national parks in Latvia. Visit Turaida Castle builded in 13th century, castle also is known for its beautiful surroundings and history. Gutmanis cave, The biggest cave in the Baltics.  Big and long, with many notches on the walls. You can even find coat of arms from hundreds of years ago. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 7:Cesis - Riga

Breakfast. After breakfast walking tour of Cesis which is build in the centre of Vidzeme and is one of the most lovely towns in Latvia. The medieval castle has been restored and extended a few times. The Cesis Castle complex stay in the heart of the city with its Livonian castle ruins and a few parks. The small stone streets in Cesis Old Town have a history, and small shops sell locally hand made craft items. After short stay in Birini Palace which is build in Neo-Gothic and Neo-Renaissance styles. Castle is admired for its graceful and eloquent warp. Back to the Riga. Free time here are many souvenir shops, cafes, bars, night clubs. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 8:Riga

Breakfast. After breakfast departure to Riga airport. End of the journey.

What is cancellation policy?

Cancellation conditions: the Seller reserves the right to charge the following cancellation fees: for cancellations from 30-21 days prior to arrival – 30% of the basic tour price, for cancellations 20-7 days prior to arrival – 60% of the basic tour price, 6-1 days prior to arrival 70% of the basic tour price and for “no show” – 75% of the basic tour price.
